The Allen-Bradley 1769 Compact I/O – 1769-IF16C is compatible with both the MicroLogix 1500 programmable logic controller (PLC) and the CompactLogix programmable automation controller (PAC). The 1769-IF16C features sixteen (16) high-density single-ended input channels designed for integration with field devices delivering 0-20mA or 4-20mA current signals to modular input channels.
The 1769-IF16C module is used to integrate with field instrumentation, including transmitters, controllers. Its functionality also includes receiving feedback from variable frequency drives (VFDs), modulating valves, panel meters, data loggers and other related devices. It is also valuable as a receiver of conditioned output signals from signal isolators and splitters.
The 1769-IF16C gets added value with an internal Signa-Delta analog-to-digital converter (ADC). This function converts the received analog signals into digital data with a high resolution of 16 bits in unipolar configuration and 15 bits in bipolar configuration. The module is able to accept a wide range of analog input signals, covering full scale from 0 to 21 mA and from 3.2 to 21 mA.
In terms of power requirements, the 1769-IF16C draws a current of 190 mA at 5 V DC and 70 mA at 24 V DC while generating 4.0 W of heat. Significantly, the module exhibits an overall input accuracy of 0.5% for optional 16Hz, 50Hz and 60Hz filters, as well as an input drift accuracy of ±0.0045%.
