The POINT I/O Guard series is an advanced line of Allen-Bradley security modules, dedicated to applications requiring the highest security standards.

The Allen-Bradley POINT I/O Guard – 1734-OB8S security module has been used in applications requiring higher security standards and is a key part of the POINT Guard I/O product line. This module, equipped with solid state outputs, is available in two series: A and B. It features a dual-channel mode that controls redundancy through two independent output paths. This is the POINT Guard IO safety module, equipped with eight (8) current-absorbing input channels. Each output of this module is capable of delivering an output current of 1 A per channel.

Typical applications for this module include safety applications such as emergency pushbuttons, safety gates, light curtains and other safety devices. Its dual channel allows the coherence of two input signals to be evaluated, allowing it to be used in Category 3 and Category 4 applications. It can also be used in single channel mode, allowing it to be used in Category 2 applications.

This module offers a configurable discrepancy time between channels, protecting against false error signals. It also has a wiring short circuit check, available when wiring input channels in conjunction with test outputs. Each channel has individually adjustable delays for ON signals. and OFF, minimizing the risk of false readings.

It is equipped with the detection of various types of short circuits, including high, low and cross-circuit, which is confirmed by its electronic protection. Its output can aggregate a maximum current of 8 A. This module has a response time of up to 6.2 milliseconds, and the point bus current is up to 190 mA.

Its dimensions are 77 x 25 x 55 mm and the weight is 62.4 g. This module is available in versions A and B, mounted horizontally or vertically. It offers exceptional performance in the area of security in applications where the highest reliability is crucial. The 1734-OB8S meets requirements such as SIL CL2, PLe and Category 4. It is compatible with GuardLogix, Compact GuardLogix and SmartGuard controllers.
